“Resurrection After Exoneration”

This is the brief story of RAE, Resurrection After Exoneration, a new non-profit in New Orleans started by exoneree John Thompson and other exonerees. RAE’s mission is to assist exonerated people in making the very difficult transition from prison life to society. This is a news piece aired on ARTE France (dir. Renaud Dumesnil).  It covers BP’s public relations campaign shortly after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill; and was the first story to be given access to a day in the life of a BP employee.

“Mothers of Violence”

New Orleans continuously ranks as one of the most violent cites in America. In 2006, it was ranked as having the highest murders per capita in the US, and in 2007 the murder rate increased by 30 percent. “Hurting Mothers Because of Violence” is a support group for mothers of murder victims. It was started at The New Hope Baptist Church by Desiree Watson Jones after her son was killed. By sharing their stories, the woman portrayed in this piece hope they are showing other mothers and family members affected by violence that they are not alone.
